XC

The 2013 Spring Thaw XC course will be the former “Short Course” this year. Putting the “Mountain” back in Mountain Bike Racing! With near twice the Elavation gain and twice the Singletrack Descent as the traditional course for the Elite and Cat 1. Cat 2′s will see a similar course with a little less climbing and descending. Cat 3′s will do the traditional loop they always do.

Elite and Cat 1′s: Start on Glenview dr. and head up the Loop road rd2060 all the way to 4 courners. Then Descend down Martys to the cut over trail to Catwalk, traverse Toothpick to Caterpillar to the White Rabbit Parking Lot to Alice in Wonderland back to the Loop rd and Climb back to Four corners for a repeat of the Descent but with a trip down BTI to the finish at the same location as the Start of the race.

Cat 2: Same as Elite and Cat 1′s except, instead of climbing all the way up to Four Corners the “Second” time, they will only climb up to Upper Caterpillar and start there second Descent from there with the same finish.

Cat 3′s” Start at Glenview and climb the Loop rd rd2060 to Upper Caterpillar and will descend down Upper Caterpillar to the White Rabbit Parking Lot to Alice in Wonderland to BTI to the Finish at the same location as the Start of the race on Glenview.

DH

This year the DH will feature 2 stages of Downhill! The first stage #1 with be the traditional Catwalk trail that has been a part of the Spring Thaw for many years now. After finishing Stage #1 the racers will ride over to BTI and begin Stage #2 on the Popular BTI trail. This trail features Small Jumps and Big Berms all the way down the 1.2 mile length of the course. It will finish down on Glenview rd where the XC finish will be the day before. These two courses times will be added together at the end to be a “Combined Time” result for the racers.

ALL MOUNTAIN KING and QUEEN

We will be crowning “King and Queens” in all Catagories. How we will do this is, there will be points on all the stages of racing, XC, and the 2 DH stages. Then we will add the points and award the racers with the highest points. To enter you must check in the morning of the XC at the registration table with the bike you will be using for all events. YOU MUST COMPETE ON THE SAME BIKE FOR ALL STAGES! We will take the fastest times form the Elite category and crown a King and Queen, All of the times from the all of the Cat 1′s and crown a King and Queen, All of the Cat 2′s and so on. There will be no age separation within  this  compitition. A list of points will be at the registration table morning of the XC.

Youth Race: The youth will be at 1pm in the Venue area. Ages 3-10. Free entries and all participants receive a medal!

BEER: Our Beer Sponsor, Deschutes will be providing 1 Free beer for each racer in both the XC and DH. additional beer will be for sale in the food court area.
